Start with your goals
Before browsing teachers, think about what you want to achieve. Are you a complete beginner looking for an enjoyable introduction? Are you preparing for a graded exam? Do you want to play a particular style — classical, jazz, traditional Irish? Having a clear sense of your goals will help you match with the right teacher quickly.
Instrument and style
Filter the Teachers page by your instrument first. Then look at the music styles each teacher lists on their profile. A classical pianist and a jazz pianist may both be excellent, but their teaching style and repertoire focus will be very different.
Level
Check that the teacher works with your level. Most teachers list the levels they teach on their profile — from complete beginner through to advanced and professional. If you are unsure of your level, choose "Beginner" or "Complete Beginner" to start.
Profile video
Many teachers upload a short introductory video. Watching it can give you a real sense of their personality, communication style, and teaching approach — much more than a written bio alone.
